How to Compare Your Winery Email Results With What You Sent
Your email platform reports clicks and revenue for each send, but it doesn’t record what kind of email each one was. Joy Cork records that and has no results. Put the two together in ChatGPT or Claude and you can ask how your own results differ across the kinds of email you send. This article shows the Joy Cork half for one California winery, 50 emails over 12 months, and the questions it makes possible. It contains no result numbers, because Joy Cork has none.
At a glance
- Joy Cork has no open, click or sales data, for your winery or anyone else’s. The results in this comparison are yours and stay in your own chat.
- 50 emails from one California winery in the 12 months to October 10, 2026 are the example here, each with what Joy Cork noted about it.
- 29 of the 50 carried an offer and 24 had a story section. Splits like these are what your results get compared across.
- A year of one winery’s email is a small sample. What comes back is a direction to look in, not proof.
What does each side know?
| Your email platform | Joy Cork | |
|---|---|---|
| When each email went out, and its subject | Yes | Yes |
| Opens, clicks, orders, revenue | Yes | No |
| Kind of email, occasion, offers, urgency, sections, subject-line traits, length | No, unless you tagged it yourself | Yes |
| What other wineries sent in the same weeks | No | Yes |
Joy Cork’s notes are its own observations of each email as a subscriber received it. They are not your tags, and they may not match how you think of a campaign.
What does Joy Cork’s list of one winery’s emails look like?
Here is a summary of the list for one California winery, from October 16, 2025 to October 10, 2026: 50 emails, about one a week. The winery isn’t named, the smallest counts are left out, and nothing here says how any of these emails performed.

The typical email ran 445 words (the shortest 270, the longest 658) with 10 images. Eleven subject lines included an emoji, 7 were personalised and 5 included a number. Summer was the occasion this winery built around most often, in 17 emails, then spring in 7.
Every row in the full list also carries the send time and the subject, which is how it gets matched to a report.
What can you ask once you add your own report?
Export your campaign report from Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Commerce7, WineDirect or whichever platform you send with: one row per send, with the date, the subject and your results. Upload or paste it into a ChatGPT or Claude conversation that has Joy Cork connected, and ask the assistant to match it to Joy Cork’s list of your emails.
With the winery above, the questions could be:
- Did the 24 emails with a story section get more clicks per send than the 26 without one?
- Did the 29 emails with a shipping offer bring in more revenue per send than the 21 with no offer?
- How did the 30 emails with no urgency compare with the 20 that used some?
- Clicks dropped in the summer. What changed in what we sent, and what were other wineries sending in those weeks?
The last question uses both halves of Joy Cork: your own list, and what the archive shows other wineries sent in the same weeks.
A careful answer has four parts: how many rows of your report matched an email in Joy Cork’s list, how many didn’t, how many sends sit behind each side of the comparison, and then the difference. If the assistant leaves any of those out, ask for it.
What should you be careful about?
- Small groups. The three splits above have at least 20 emails on each side, which is about as good as one winery’s year gets. This winery gave a deadline in only 7 emails, and one unusual email can move an average of 7. Treat a difference built on a group that size as a question to look into.
- Missing sends. Joy Cork subscribes to your public list as a customer would. Emails sent only to club members or to a segment are probably not in its list, so some rows of your report will have no match.
- Opens. Apple Mail’s privacy feature counts opens that never happened. Clicks, orders and revenue are safer to compare.
- Other causes. A sale email in November and a newsletter in February differ in more than their format. The comparison shows that two groups differed, not why.
Where do your numbers go?
Nowhere beyond your conversation. You give the report to ChatGPT or Claude, and the assistant asks Joy Cork only for the list of your own winery’s emails. Joy Cork doesn’t receive your report, store it or pool it with anyone else’s. That is also why it can’t tell you how your results compare with another winery’s: it doesn’t have theirs.
How often wineries email their lists covers what the archive shows about cadence across wineries.
FAQ
Can Joy Cork tell me which of my emails performed best?
Not by itself. Joy Cork has no open, click or sales data. Your email platform has that. In ChatGPT or Claude you can combine your platform’s report with Joy Cork’s notes on each of your emails and compare your own results across kinds of email.
Which email platforms does this work with?
Any platform that exports a report with one row per send, including the date and subject: Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Commerce7 and WineDirect among them. The matching is done by subject and send date.
Does Joy Cork see or keep my campaign results?
No. The report stays in your ChatGPT or Claude conversation. Joy Cork supplies its list of your emails and receives nothing back.
Why are some of my sends missing from Joy Cork’s list?
Joy Cork receives what a public subscriber receives. Sends that went only to club members or to a segment usually don’t reach it.
Can an agency do this for a client winery?
Yes, one client winery at a time, using that client’s report and Joy Cork’s list of that client’s emails.
A note on these figures: the counts are Joy Cork’s observations of one California winery’s emails, sent between October 16, 2025 and October 10, 2026 and received through a public mailing-list subscription: 50 emails, pulled on October 11, 2026. The winery is not named, and counts under five are left out. Counts by section and trait overlap, since one email can have several. No performance figures appear because Joy Cork holds none; nobody’s campaign report was used for this article.
